“Comprehensive course,” “learning from the ground up,” and “certificate at the end” sound good, but they say little about the actual scope of the training. Before you deposit your money, check out six specific areas of the program. Each gap represents a topic that will need to be filled in later - this should not be done by testing on the client.
Module 1 - Ear piercings
The program should list specific piercings: Lobe, Helix, Flat, Flat Helix, Conch, Tragus and Rook. The term "ear piercing" alone does not allow you to assess what you will actually learn.
Module 2 - Facial piercings
The face module should be described in the same way. Ask directly about Nostril, Eyebrow, Labret, Medusa, Snake Bites, Madonna and Monroe. The lack of names does not necessarily mean a poor course, but it requires clarification of the scope before signing up.
Module 3 - Anatomy and dermatology
This module should cover skin and cartilage structure, piercing site assessment, and health contraindications. Without this knowledge, it is difficult to recognize a situation in which a procedure should be refused or a different solution should be proposed.
Module 4 - Hygiene, asepsis, sterilization
Hygiene and safe organization of the procedure cannot be briefly mentioned when learning the technique. They should be a separate, distinct part of the program.
Module 5 - Jewelry and care
The course should explain the selection of jewelry with documented composition and quality for the anatomy and stage of healing. The name "titanium", "surgical steel" or "gold" alone is not enough: what matters is the specific alloy, surface finish, manufacturer's documentation and sterilization option. It is also necessary to learn post-procedure recommendations and how to deal with problematic situations.
Module 6 - Working with clients and business
The technique is not enough if you cannot conduct a conversation, organize a visit and maintain contact after the procedure. Therefore, it is worth checking whether the program covers customer service, work organization and the basics of image building.
