Piercing course offers may look similar, although they differ in the scope of practice, group size and experience of the instructors. Before you make a deposit, ask ten specific questions. The answers will allow you to compare facts instead of advertising slogans.

10 questions worth asking

  1. How many people are in the group? The smaller the group, the more time the instructor can devote to each person. With 8-10 participants, it is worth asking exactly how much practice actually takes place per student.
  2. Does the practice take place on models or on sponges and artificial ears? Practicing on artificial material does not fully replicate working with the anatomy, tissue and reactions of a real person.
  3. Who conducts the training and does he actively work as a piercer? Check the experience, professional profile and examples of work of the person who will assess your technique.
  4. What is the exact scope of the program? Ask for a list of specific types of piercings, not a vague "you'll learn the basics" approach.
  5. Does the program cover asepsis and sanitation, or just technique? Hygiene and sterilization should be a separate part of learning, not a quick add-on.
  6. What do I get when I finish? A certificate is standard, but also ask about the materials (script) and whether you are left alone with the knowledge or whether you have somewhere to come back with questions.
  7. Is there access to the instructor after the training? The first weeks of independent work are the moment when questions arise most often - a good school anticipates this.
  8. How does payment work? In our model, the date is reserved with a deposit, and the rest is payable on the day of the training after the invoice. Regardless of the school, ask for clear terms and payment confirmation.
  9. Can I see the students' implementations or opinions? The portfolio and real opinions say more than the program description on the website.
  10. Does the program adapt to my level? If you're starting from scratch and the program is identical for people with experience, chances are no one will pace you.

Is it worth going to a piercing course in another city?

Commuting may make sense if the course offers a small class, an explicit curriculum, model practice, and a facilitator with verifiable experience. Proximity does not compensate for a program without proper supervision.

Before paying the deposit, ask for the times of all days, the number of participants and the rules for changing the date. Only then calculate travel and accommodation.
