A good portfolio shows more than aesthetic photos. It should document repetition, selection of jewelry and development of technique. At the beginning, it is better to publish fewer works, but those that were done in appropriate conditions and that you can honestly discuss.
What should a good portfolio show?
Start with clear photos of the jobs you are most confident in doing. If you are competent, show different piercing locations instead of many similar shots.
In the description, provide the type of piercing, type of jewelry and stage: fresh work or control photo. Do not disclose customer data.
Fresh and healed piercings
The fresh photo shows the positioning of the jewelry immediately after the procedure. A photo after healing documents the subsequent effect, but it should not be forced.
If the client agrees to a follow-up shot, explain how the photo will be used and keep the consent on file.
Informed consent and privacy
A photo taken during the visit does not automatically become promotional material. Voluntary, specific consent and information about where the photo will be shown are required.
Without appropriate consent, do not publish an image, contact details or details that would easily identify the person.
How to post without pretending to be more experienced
Do not present work performed under supervision as entirely independent. Don't retouch photos in a way that hides important features of the piercing.

Constant photo conditions facilitate fair comparison
Similar lighting, a neutral background and a repeating frame make it easier to assess the positioning of the jewelry. A professional camera is not necessary, but the photo should be sharp and faithfully reflect the color of the tissues.
Separate photos of fresh work from control photos and always label the stage. Thanks to this, the client does not compare two different moments of healing, and you receive consistent documentation of development.
