In the example scenario from the calculator, 48 visits give PLN 9,600 in revenue. After deducting PLN 5,080 of costs, PLN 4,520 remains before taxes and contributions. This is not an industry average, but a starting point that you can replace with your own numbers.
First, determine what you call earnings
The Pricing does not show the piercer's earnings. It only shows how much the customer pays for the visit. This amount must be used to finance, among other things, jewelry, materials, a workplace and the studio's commission.
Revenue is the sum of customer payments. Result before taxes and contributions remains after deducting variable and fixed costs. The calculator on this page calculates just such a result. It is not used to calculate salary under an employment contract.
The work model changes the way of counting
Before entering the numbers, check which variant suits your situation.
| Work model | What does "earning" mean? | How to use the calculator |
|---|---|---|
| Employment contract or hourly rate | Remuneration specified in the contract | The calculator does not reproduce this model. Compare the gross and net amount with the terms of the contract. |
| Cooperation with the studio on commission | Revenues from visits less studio share and other costs | Enter the average paid visit and add the studio's commission to the average cost of the visit. |
| Renting a stand or your own office | Operating result after covering costs | Include all deposits, single visit costs and full monthly fixed costs. |
We describe more differences in the guide about working in the studio and in your own office.
How to calculate the monthly result?
Start with paid, completed visits. Do not count reservations that have been canceled or postponed to the next month.
- Revenue: number of visits × average value of the paid visit.
- Variable costs: number of visits × average cost of a single visit.
- Result of the month: revenue − variable costs − fixed costs.
The cost of the visit includes jewelry, disposable materials, payment processing and any studio commission. Fixed costs include rent or position, utilities, accounting, insurance, records system and marketing. Plan training and equipment replacement separately. You can find the full list in the guide how much does it cost to start a piercer?.
Calculate your own earnings scenario
The starting values are examples. Replace them with data from your own plan or completed visits.
The calculator shows a simplified scenario. It does not take into account taxes, contributions, holidays or unplanned expenses.
Three results with the same prices and costs
The variants below use PLN 200 per visit, PLN 60 variable costs and PLN 2,200 fixed costs. These are mathematical examples, not market rates.
| Scenario | Assumptions | Visits and revenue | Result before taxes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cautious | 12 days, 3 places a day, 40% occupancy | 14 visits · PLN 2,800 | −240 PLN |
| Working | 20 days, 4 places a day, 60% occupancy | 48 visits · PLN 9,600 | PLN 4,520 |
| High occupancy | 22 days, 5 places a day, 75% occupancy | 83 visits · PLN 16,600 | PLN 9,420 |
This table shows the mechanism and does not promise the result. A high occupancy rate only makes sense if the number of visits does not reduce the quality of consultations, site preparation and post-piercing care.
The four data points that are easiest to overestimate
- Number of visits: a full schedule does not mean full attendance. Include cancellations and empty dates.
- Average payment: count it from actual transactions, not from the highest position in the Pricing.
- Cost of the visit: more expensive jewelry increases the customer's bill, but it also increases your cost.
- Working time: consultation, preparation, cleaning, documentation and post-visit messages are not separate items on the receipt.
If you're just starting out, part of your week will be devoted to exercises, a portfolio, and acquiring your first clients. Don't enter the full calendar at once. It will be helpful plan for the first 90 days after the course.
How to calculate the refund of the course cost?
First, add up the course, travel, accommodation, equipment, first materials and financial reserves. Then calculate your monthly result according to the formula used in the calculator.
Approximate payback time = full startup cost ÷ monthly result after deducting variable and fixed costs.
If the monthly result is zero or negative, the investment will not pay off under these assumptions. You then need to correct occupancy, pricing or cost structure - and do the calculation again. The result is still the amount before taxes and contributions. Current training prices can be found at piercing course Pricing.
Frequently asked questions about piercer earnings
Does the calculator show the piercer's salary?
No. It shows a simplified result of a person who bills their own visits or works with the studio on commission. Salary under an employment contract must be assessed based on the terms of the specific contract.
How many visits are needed to cover fixed costs?
Divide the fixed costs by the amount remaining from one visit after subtracting its variable cost. At a price of PLN 200, a visit cost of PLN 60 and fixed costs of PLN 2,200, the break-even point is approximately 16 paid visits.
How to calculate the average value of a visit?
Divide the revenue from paid visits in the selected period by their number. Use actual payments, not the highest prices shown in the Pricing.
How to calculate the refund of the course cost?
Divide the full startup cost by your positive monthly result after subtracting variable and fixed costs. You will receive an approximate refund time before taxes and contributions.
